Executive Summary

Evan Nuttall is a partner and the head of patent litigation in the Calgary office. Evan focuses his practice primarily on intellectual property litigation and complex commercial litigation. His clients include some of the largest players in the oil & gas industry, and he is currently lead counsel on the most high-profile patent dispute being fought in Alberta. Having first practised in England as a barrister, Evan is an extremely experienced trial lawyer. He specializes in complex matters that include not only intellectual property litigation but also oil & gas litigation, securities litigation and construction litigation.

Representative Work

  • Acts on complex IP litigation matters such as infringement actions relating to patents, licensing, trademarks, copyright and industrial designs, and actions involving allegations of theft of confidential information.
  • Acts in derivative and oppression proceedings where investors challenge the conduct of the corporation, its directors and/or officers; provides advice and representation to investment dealers, securities advisors and other market participants on securities industry-related issues.
