Kathleen McDormand is a partner and the Regional Group Manager of Commercial Litigation in the Ottawa office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. She is also the National Leader of our Team North® practice group. Kathleen practises as a commercial litigator and as an estate litigator. She also has experience as a commercial litigator for matters in Nunavut.
During the Bar Admission Course, Kathleen received the highest grades in Ottawa and the second highest grades in Ontario. She was awarded the Isadore Levinter Memorial Award, the Law Society’s First Prize, the Edwin George Long, K.C. Memorial Scholarship, the Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP Prize and the Osgoode Society Prize for Canadian Legal History.
During law school, Kathleen received the Osgoode Society Prize for Canadian Legal History, the Medical Legal Society of Ottawa-Carleton’s first prize in an essay competition, the Gordon Blair Book Prize (for highest achievement in Legislation) and the Canada Law Book Prize (for highest achievement in Contracts). She also received the Newton Rowell Scholarship in 1998 (for public service and academic achievement).
