Executive Summary

​​Andrew Hodhod is an associate in the Financial Services Group in our Montréal office. His practice includes all aspects of lending, banking, and bankruptcy and insolvency law.

Andrew is called to the bar in Ontario and Québec and has experience practising law in both jurisdictions. He was both a summer student and an articling student at BLG before returning as an associate in 2014.

Representative Work

Lending

  • Represented a shipbuilder in connection with the establishment of credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of approximately C$425 million. (2017)
  • Represented a refractory products manufacturer in Québec in connection with the establishment of senior, second lien and mezzanine credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of approximately US$200 million. (2017)
  • Represented a health care service provider in Québec in connection with the establishment of senior secured credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of approximately C$500 million and subordinate secured credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of C$70 million. (2016)
  • Represented a Schedule I bank in connection with the establishment of CAD and USD senior secured credit facilities in favour of a stone and accent manufacturer in the aggregate principal amount of approximately C$7 million and US$28 million respectively. (2016)
  • Represented a Schedule I bank in connection with the financing of three acquisitions by a pharmaceutical company totalling approximately C$26 million. (2016)
  • Represented an Ontario electricity distributor in connection with the establishment of unsecured credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of C$175 million. (2015)
  • Represented a carpet manufacturer in connection with the establishment of asset-based revolving credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of C$30 million. (2015)
  • Represented a non-bank lender in connection with the establishment of senior secured credit facilities in favour of a telecommunications company in the aggregate principal amount of approximately C$35 million. (2015)
  • Represented the Polynt Group in Canada in connection with the establishment of senior secured US, Canadian, UK and Australian asset-based revolving credit facilities in the aggregate principal amount of US$100 million and second lien term loan credit facilities in the principal amount of US$60 million. (2014)

 Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Restructuring

  • Advised secured parties on issues relating to the granting and enforcement of security interests in personal (movable) property under the Personal Property Security Act (Ontario) and the Civil Code of Québec.
  • Advised parties on issues relating to the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
  • Represented and advised surety/bonding companies in contested and uncontested matters.
  • Represented several creditors in the CCAA proceedings of Target Canada Co. and certain related entities.
  • Acted as counsel to Redstone Investment Corporation and Redstone Capital Corporation in the CCAA proceedings commenced by these companies.
