Executive Summary

Paul Guaragna is a senior associate in the Construction Group at our Toronto office.

Paul specializes in litigation of construction disputes, including construction liens, trust claims, delay claims, and surety bond claims. He regularly prepares court materials, attends pre-trials, motions and conducts examinations for discovery. Paul also has experience in reviewing and negotiating terms of construction contract documents.

Paul is actively involved in the pro bono community and provides pro bono services to self-represented litigants through Pro Bono Ontario.

Representative Work

  • Provincial Partitions Ltd. v. R.O.M. Contractors Inc. cob Ross Clair Contractors (2015) – successfully represented a plaintiff subcontractor in defence of a motion brought by a general contractor to have a construction lien discharged for being untimely.
  • PCR Contractors Inc. v. Wilson Station Development Corporation (2015) – successfully represented a plaintiff contractor in a motion to have a matter referred to a construction lien Master, resulting in a detailed decision that clarifies the importance and powers of construction lien Masters.
  • Serebrennikov v. Powerup Inc. et al. (2014) – successfully represented a defendant contractor in a payment dispute with multiple opposing parties.
