Amélie T. Gouin is a senior associate in our Montréal office. Ms. Gouin specialises in commercial litigation and practices mainly in the fields of competition law, advertisement and marketing, extraordinary recourses, shareholder disputes, fraud and intellectual property. Ms. Gouin also has a special interest for all litigation regarding false and misleading representations in the advertisement and marketing of consumer goods.
Ms. Gouin was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 2012 after completing her studies in civil law and common law at McGill University. During her studies, Ms. Gouin was Editor and Executive Editor of the McGill Law Journal. She also completed a clerkship in 2010-2011 under the direction of Justices Pierre C. Gagnon and Michèle Monast from the Superior Court of Québec.
In 2008, Ms. Gouin earned an Honours Bachelor of Political Science degree at McGill University.
Since 2011, Ms. Gouin has been involved in the activities of the Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal. She has been an administrator on the Board of Directors of the Young Chamber of Commerce of Montreal since 2013, acting as secretary from 2013 to 2016 and now as the president of the Board of Directors. She also sits on the Board of the École de Cirque de Verdun.
Since 2017, Ms. Gouin has served as a lecturer for the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. There she gives a number of training sessions annually on the legal obligations of directors of not-for-profit organizations.
In 2016, the WXN – Women Executive Network awarded to Ms. Gouin the prize Top 100: Canada's Most Powerful Women in the category TELUS Future Leaders. Ms. Gouin was also a finalist in competing for the title of "Avocat(e) pro bono/implication sociale" at the Young Bar Association of Montréal Gala in 2013.
