Executive Summary

Alexandra Forsyth-Sells is an associate in our Ottawa office, practicing in the Commercial Litigation Group with a focus on Family Law. Alexandra has practiced exclusively in Family Law since her call to the Bar in 2015.

Alexandra completed an internship at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in the Commercial Litigation Group before joining the Firm in 2017. Prior to returning to Borden Ladner Gervais LLP as an Associate, Alexandra practiced Family Law at a boutique and mid-size firm in Toronto. She also completed a post-graduate certificate in Multi-Platform Journalism at Seneca College in Toronto where she received comprehensive training in television, radio and digital journalism.

Alexandra has experience in all aspects of Family Law including separation and divorce, property division, custody and access, child and spousal support, marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, and separation agreements. She has appeared before various levels of court in Ontario.

While attending the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, Alexandra completed an exchange at the Université Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne in Paris, France in partnership with Cornell University Law School.  She actively participated in the Women's Legal Mentorship Program, as a mentor for first-year law students.  The topic of her major research paper explored the retention of female lawyers in private practice in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Prior to law school, Alexandra completed both her undergraduate degree (first class standing) in Political Science and Women's Studies and her Master's degree in Political Science at Brock University.
