Executive Summary


Allison Foord is a partner in the Litigation Department as well as the Insurance and Tort Liability Group and Healthcare Law Group in our Vancouver office. Allison focuses her practice on civil litigation and has served as litigation counsel in numerous civil and commercial litigation matters before the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia. She has extensive mediation experience in the areas of insurance defence claims, particularly personal injury and medical and dental negligence claims, and has trial experience in product liability, libel, and disability insurance claims. She also has experience in privacy, defamation and media, and health law.

The varied nature of her practice means that Allison is capable of adapting to handle the unique situation of her clients and has a broad base of experience.

General Representative Work

  • Extensive experience in the conduct of complex product liability litigation, including trial experience and class actions.
  • Additional trial experience in a libel claim and arbitration experience in a significant commercial litigation matter.
  • The resolution of personal injury, disability insurance, medical and dental negligence claims.
  • Numerous applications on behalf of the media seeking access to court exhibits or to oppose publication bans.
  • Numerous applications on all aspects of procedure including, applications to dismiss for want of prosecution; petitions to enforce letters rogatory; applications for production of documents; and adjournment applications.
  • Preparation of personal information protection policies and advising public and private sector organizations under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the provincial Personal Information Protection Act, and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
