Counsel in BLG's Electricity Markets and Corporate-Commercial Groups. Bernadette is extensively involved in the corporate and commercial aspects of the power sector. She has advised clients in significant mergers and acquisitions, share and asset purchases, joint ventures and other investment vehicles including limited partnerships, corporations and trusts, having a particular focus and knowledge in power projects (renewable and non-renewable) and electric utilities. She has considerable experience acting for a wide range of stakeholders including distributors, generators, transmitters, commercial users, retailers and municipal shareholders in a variety of commercial transactions. Bernadette also advises in the areas of district energy, climate change and with respect to the physical purchase and sale of electricity and natural gas, and associated financial products of hedges and swaps.
Prior to joining BLG, Bernadette was general counsel to a major electricity distributor. She was responsible for directing all legal affairs of the corporation and its subsidiaries, and as part of the executive team, provided legal and governance advice to senior management and the board of directors.
