Executive Summary

Jason is an associate in the Calgary office and is a member of our Construction group. Jason practices construction litigation and arbitration. He generally acts on behalf of owners, contractors and subcontractors in disputes regarding construction and engineering projects.

Further to his practice in the construction group, he has experience practicing municipal law, employment law and insurance litigation. This experience includes municipal enforcement, planning and land use, bylaws, expropriation and municipal litigation. His insurance litigation practice involved subrogation, coverage opinions, product liability, construction liability, property and fire losses, and environmental claims.

Jason has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta as well as the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench. He has also appeared before various administrative tribunals such as the Environmental Appeals Board, the Municipal Government Board and various Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards.

Representative Work

  • ​Counsel for an EPC contractor involved in a dispute with the owner and operator of a carbon capture facility.
  • Counsel for a Contractor involved in a dispute regarding an oil sands project.
  • Counsel for a Mechanical Contractor in an insured dispute regarding a major institutional building in Calgary. 
  • Town of Canmore v Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 (re Bylaw 12/15, Dead Man's Flats Area Structure Plan, 2017 ABMGB 10 – Intermunicipal Dispute.
  • Obeng v Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 1032, 2014 CanLII 76780 – Labour Relations Board Dispute.
