BLG has been thinking globally and taking action under our international strategy. One of our core initiatives in that strategy is to raise the firm’s international profile, and we are off to a good start. Our Mining Group was recognized as a leading Canadian firm for Latin American mining by Chambers, and the firm had a strong performance in the new Chambers Canada guide, with an impressive 10 practice areas ranked Band 1 and 78 BLG lawyers recognized in the guide. In addition, BLG was once again recognized as the top-ranked firm in The Best Lawyers in Canada® for the eighth year in a row! BLG partners also attended the recent IBA and ACC conferences in Vienna and Boston, respectively.

I’m also pleased to announce that Laleh Moshiri, whom many of you might remember as our Senior Director of Professional Resources in Toronto, has been appointed to the new position of National Director of Diversity and Inclusion. BLG has long been committed to diversity and inclusion, and we know it is highly valued by our clients. In this new role, Laleh will help advance BLG’s diversity and inclusion initiatives. Reporting directly to the National Management Committee, Laleh will lead the implementation of our national diversity strategy, which will include regularly reviewing the talent pipeline to ensure the progression of women and diverse individuals, and deliver customized programs to support their development.

Looking forward, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Please continue to send us your feedback and suggestions at Alumni@blg.com, or through our LinkedIn alumni group.

Sincerely,

Sean Weir
National Managing Partner and CEO
