As an organization we too will use the summer to focus on rejuvenation and transformation. During the past year, the Firm’s National Council has been developing the organization’s new five-year strategic plan, Leading Our Profession. This plan involves a series of initiatives to drive revenue growth and efficiencies, and to streamline our management and operations. In a nutshell, it builds on BLG’s demonstrated foundation of excellence, and positions the Firm for a strong future.

A Project Management Team is in place, and implementation of the plan is ongoing and progressing well.

Since the last edition of the Alumni Newsletter, we took a look at Canada’s business and economic landscapes. While the constantly changing political, economic, technological and regulatory factors present a host of new opportunities for businesses, they also present risks and critical legal considerations. In The Top Ten Business Risks 2014 we provide an overview of some of those key risks, opportunities and trends that could potentially impact businesses in the near future.

In this edition we profile some of the new professionals who have recently joined BLG, and some of our lawyers who have retired from the Firm in 2013. You will also find a sampling of the recent accomplishments and successes of our lawyers as they strive daily for professional excellence.
