The British Columbia provincial government has recently enacted a number of amendments to the Local Government Act that are designed to facilitate multiphase real estate development projects and address some of the issues raised in the Pacific National Investments Ltd. v. Victoria (City), 2004 SCC 75 case. The new amendments will enable developers to enter into enforceable, long-term agreements with local governments that will provide consistency in municipal governance.
