The role of Colleges in post-secondary education is continuously increasing as both secondary school and university graduates enroll in the diverse and practically focused programs available at Colleges. At the same time, governance in all non-profit organizations has come under increasing scrutiny in order to ensure that directors and senior officers are accountable for their actions to the organizations they serve, and often to the general public as well. This newsletter is intended to introduce some ways in which personal liability may be imposed on governors of Colleges and some steps they should take to minimize their exposure.
