Toronto (April 1, 2014) — The Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), recently hosted a delegation of Dubai government and business leaders led by Mr. Fahad Al Gergawi, CEO of Dubai FDI — the foreign investment office at the Department of Economic Development in Dubai.

The delegation included the CEO of Dubai's Islamic Economy Center, Mr. Abdullah Al Awar, Mr. Khaled Aly Soliman, CEO of Galadari Bros. Co., a leading diversified corporate group based in Dubai, Mr. Ahmad Sultan Bin Selayem, the Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Center Authority, and Mr. Ahmad Sultan Bin Harib, a Senior Manager-Americas Region, of Jabal Ali Free Zone Authority.

While in Toronto, the delegates met with leading Canadian business and technology associations to discuss the many potential opportunities for collaboration between Canada and Dubai. Dubai, with its stable economy, strategic location and state-of-the-art infrastructure, presents several options for foreign direct investment.

In addition, in conjunction with the Toronto Financial Services Alliance, BLG hosted a seminar on the emergence of Dubai as a global financial hub for Islamic finance for Canadian investors.
