Named winners of the 2012 Lexpert Zenith Awards

David W. Scott, OC, QC, and John Warren of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) were named recipients of the 2012 Lexpert Zenith Awards, honouring lawyers who have been change-agents for 40 or more years, for their clients, firms, companies, departments, faculties, profession, colleagues and/or communities.

David is senior counsel in the Ottawa office of BLG. He is a champion for pro bono law and over the course of his 50 year career has provided pro bono legal services to many not-for-profit organizations and individuals in a variety of criminal and civil cases. David is a past chair of Pro Bono Law Ontario and helped BLG establish its official pro bono policy in 2004.

John is senior counsel in the Toronto office of BLG. Since starting his career with BLG's legacy firm Borden, Elliot, Kelly & Palmer in 1968, John has served on virtually every leadership committee within the Firm. He was instrumental in the creation of BLG in 2000, which saw the merger of six regional law firms across Canada. John has also lent his leadership abilities to many community organizations, including the Toronto Zoological Society, The Toronto Zoo, and the Toronto General & Western Hospital Foundation.

The awards were handed out on Oct. 11, 2012, at an awards banquet held at The Ritz-Carlton in Toronto.
