Marc Jolicoeur Resumes Leadership

OTTAWA, ON September 16, 2008 - Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Jolicoeur as Regional Managing Partner of the firm’s Ottawa office. Effective immediately, Mr. Jolicoeur will be responsible for the operation of the Ottawa office, which includes a team of approximately 300 lawyers, intellectual property agents and staff. This appointment marks Mr. Jolicoeur’s second time leading the firm’s Ottawa office; he was previously managing partner from 1996 to 1999.

Mr. Jolicoeur became a partner in 1984 and has an active practice in the field of corporate/commercial law and corporate governance. He acts for a broad range of clients in the business and not for profit sectors as well as for public institutions.

Mr. Jolicoeur’s area of practice is heavily focused on servicing public institutions and the not-for-profit sector. He regularly represents national and local not-for-profit and charitable organizations as well as municipalities, crown corporations, hospitals, colleges and school boards.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Jolicoeur has made significant contributions to the Ottawa community. He is the Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa and a Director of the U. of O. Heart Institute. He is also a member of the Canadian advisory committee on the establishment of the new Global United Way organization. His past community involvements include acting as Chair of such organizations as United Way/Centraide Canada, United Way Ottawa, the Civic Hospital Foundation and the University of Ottawa Foundation, to name a few.

In recognition of his business and community involvement, Mr. Jolicoeur has been recognized with several awards including the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2003 and the Gordon F. Henderson Award in 2001. Most recently Mr. Jolicoeur received the Dean’s Philos Award in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic achievement and social commitment from the Tefler School of Management at the University of Ottawa.
