博历维律师事务所进入中国市场

Toronto (April 27, 2016) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce its continued development in China through the recent move of its Beijing office to the business incubation center of the Canada China Business Council (CCBC), located in the heart of Beijing's central business district, and the hire of Elaine Chen to the role of business development manager in Beijing. Since BLG's expansion into China in 2014, the firm's Canadian based China team has grown to include over 40 multidisciplinary professionals who speak both English and French, as well as Mandarin and Cantonese.

"BLG's new office in the CCBC will offer unrivaled access to a beehive of Canada/China business activity, and will help solidify and grow relationships in Beijing and other cities," stated Sean Weir, BLG's national managing partner and CEO. "It also places BLG at the epicenter of China's administrative, policy and regulatory activity."

"Elaine's role is instrumental in maintaining our close contact with clients and associates in China, as well as sourcing and qualifying new opportunities," said Kent Kufeldt, BLG's national leader of the Asia-Pacific Group. "Elaine's role complements that of Ying Hou, a consultant based in Ottawa who assists Chinese businesses looking to invest and conduct business in Canada. She will work directly with Paul Fortin, who is responsible for the firm's strategy in China."

Chinese clients have sought BLG's expertise in merger and acquisition transactions as they relate to mining and energy projects, public company takeovers, acquisitions of private companies, minority investments in public companies, and joint ventures. Included in these activities is advice on all related due diligence, environmental, aboriginal, tax, foreign investment approval, employment, intellectual property, as well as other legal matters required when doing business in Canada.

Canadian clients have benefited from our comprehensive industry knowledge and insights into what it takes to do business today in China. Through our representative office in Beijing and our two decades of experience in China, BLG has developed a network of trusted service providers to help our clients bring their products and services to market by navigating complex operational aspects and cross-cultural considerations.
