Community Involvement Section Content 2BLG Montréal recognizes the need to work at improving the quality of life for the wider community, and our contribution in that regard is an integral part of our business philosophy. We participate in a wide variety of benevolent activities, devoting our time, investing our skills and supporting financially many initiatives that contribute to the well-being of our community and the support of our less privileged fellow-citizens.Since 2014, BLG-Montréal has supported the Fondation du Dr. Julien through Corvées BLG, a combined fundraising-volunteer outreach campaign. Every year, nearly 40 individuals from BLG-Montréal – including professionals, staff members and students – volunteer to carry out different property maintenance and landscaping tasks on the Fondation's premises, so as to enable the charity to concentrate its resources on meeting the needs of the youngsters it serves. In addition, for the last several years, BLG-Montréal has been providing pro bono legal services to the children concerned and their families, in order to ensure that their rights are duly respected. From 1995 to 2013, BLG Montréal fostered a special relationship with the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation, particularly through the firm's participation in the annual Pedal for Kids Campaign. BLG's professionals and staff members collected over $1,000,000 in the firm's 18 years of participation. Thanks to our efforts, we raised funds that have enabled the Hospital to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment and to finance research into childhood diseases, especially diabetes and cancer, and so to remain a leader in pediatric health care.BLG Montréal is proud of having assisted the McGill University Health Centre, through a gift of $500,000 to the Hospital's Best Care for Life Campaign, thus assisting MUHC patients of all ages. The members of BLG Montréal participate actively in the BLG Reads to Kids Program. Every month, our many volunteers travel to schools in less affluent areas to read to young children from kindergarten to Grade 3, thus transmitting to them their love of reading. The BLG Reads to Kids Program has been such a resounding success that BLG-Montréal, as its contribution to I See Montréal, has undertaken to enlist the participation of the local business community by starting the Greater Montréal Reads to Kids Program, thus widening the scope of this initiative so as to include a larger number of children.BLG Montréal is proud that its professionals and employees support the Centraide Campaign every year, especially through the firm's source deduction program. In all, close to 90 BLG Montréal professionals devote their time and skills, on a pro bono basis, to contribute to the success of various charitable and not-for-profit organizations.
