Bruce Reynolds is the Chair of the International Construction Projects Group and a top-rated Construction lawyer in BLG's Toronto office.

  • Representing owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in dispute resolution including mediation, arbitration and litigation.
  • Drafting and negotiating various forms of construction contracts on behalf of owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Representing surety bonding companies in claims related to construction projects, including performance bond claims and labour and material payment bond claims.
  • Advising construction clients in respect of construction projects in Canada, the United States and internationally.
  • Managing construction cases involving multiple parties and large volumes of documents, including:
    • Counsel to regional rail authority in respect of major claims.
    • Counsel to a general contractor in respect of a CDN$500 Million direct strip production complex, defending 56 Claims for Lien aggregating in excess of CDN$80 Million.
    • Counsel to an EPCM Project Manager in a CDN$300 Million mining dispute.
    • Counsel to a joint venture Project Co in respect of its CDN$125 Million claim as Developer of a PPP Highway Project.
    • Counsel to an EPC Contractor for a large hydro-electric project in respect of its CDN$100 Million cost over-run claim.
    • Counsel to the owner of a state of the art ethanol distillery in respect of a CDN$75 Million cross-border claim regarding project delay, the retrofitting of the distillery, and the completion of commissioning (called pro hac vice in the Western District of Kentucky in relation to one action associated with this retainer).
    • Counsel to the surety in respect of a US$50 Million cross-border performance bond claim arising out of a high-rise luxury condominium project in New York City.
    • Counsel to a large institutional owner regarding the CDN$50 Million total cost claim of its general contractor.
    • Counsel to a major hospital defending 36 Claims for Lien aggregating in excess of CDN$50 Million.
    • Co-Counsel to a design-build subcontractor in a CDN$47 million lien litigation in respect of a major sports facility.
    • Counsel to a mechanical and electrical subcontractor in respect of its CDN$30 Million claim related to wrongful termination.
    • Counsel to a major hospital regarding the CDN$25 Million total cost claim of its general contractor.
    • Counsel to the surety in respect of the restructuring of a bus manufacturer with contracts for the production of 800 transit buses in Canada and the United States.
    • Counsel to an EPC Contractor in respect of a major claim arising out of the boiler refurbishment program for a nuclear generating facility.
    • Counsel to a condominium corporation and its unit owners relating to the recovery of an amount sufficient to remediate a luxury condominium's seriously leaking building envelope.
