BLG Celebrates Mentorship on International Women's Day

Young Women Lawyers and their Mentors Share its Benefits

Toronto (March 8, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP is proud to celebrate International Women's Day with a spotlight on mentorship as one of the ways to support its young women lawyers. To discover the benefits of mentorship, BLG has conducted a Q&A with mentors and mentees in each of their regions on what it means to each of them, both personally and professionally.

BLG is committed to offering women the full opportunity to develop, excel and become pre-eminent in their fields. At BLG, women participate in key leadership roles and many are leaders in their areas of practice and the community at large.

"Our commitment to gender diversity and the retention of women has resulted in a number of initiatives that also support generational diversity and the desire of both men and women to manage their roles as professionals and parents," said Laleh Moshiri, National Director of Diversity and Inclusion at BLG. "In this regard, we have developed a framework of support around maternity/parental leaves including coaching for new parents, flexible work arrangements and multiple career paths."

BLG is a proud participant in the Justicia Project supporting the retention and advancement of women lawyers in private practice, a signatory of the Catalyst Accord initiative that encourages corporate Canada to increase representation of women on boards of directors, one of the first Canadian law firms to sign the Equal Representation in Arbitration Pledge, and a member of the 30% Club committed to working towards having 30% of corporate board and C-suite positions held by women by 2019.
