BLG Strengthens Its Labour And Employment Group

Don J. Alberga brings great experience as he returns to BLG as partner

Montréal (January 16, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Don J. Alberga is returning to the Labour and Employment group as partner in its Montréal office.

Mr. Alberga represents employers on issues related to workers' compensation and occupational health and safety matters. He acts as legal counsel to several safety groups in Quebec in the manufacturing sector, the food industry and the retail trade. He defends management interests in matters of financing and prevention-inspection and also represents employers in cases under the jurisdiction of the Tribunal administratif du travail and Penal Division of Court of Quebec.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Don back to the firm," said Sean Weir, BLG's national managing partner and CEO. "He brings significant experience, having acted in more than 500 cases before the Commission des lésions professionnelles and the Tribunal administratif du travail."

"We are delighted that Don is joining us again," said Cindy Clarke, BLG's national group head, Specialized Litigation. "His expertise in employment litigation matters before labour arbitration tribunals, specifically in health and safety matters, will benefit our clients in Québec and across the country."

Mr. Alberga has been recognized in the 2016 issue of Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Workers' Compensation — Employer (Consistently Recommended) and he is a member of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE). He has often been invited to speak on occupational health and safety topics and to write articles on that subject. He also lectured in that area of the law at the École du Barreau du Québec.
