Leadership Change At BLG

Alexander L. De Zordo appointed as Chair of the Partnership Board

Toronto (July 19, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Alexander De Zordo as Chair of the Partnership Board, effective July 1, 2017.

A member of the Commercial Litigation Group, Alex has in-depth experience in complex litigation including banking, securities and class actions, with a particular focus on financial crime, corruption and investigations. He has served on the Partnership Board for the past three years and has been active within the Board's Audit Committee, International Strategy Steering Committee, and Innovation and Pricing Committee. Prior to that, Alex held positions on Montréal's Management Committee, as Litigation Department Manager, and as Chair of the Pro Bono Committee. While assuming the role of Chair, Alex will maintain his litigation practice and continue to serve the clients that have come to rely on his experience and legal acumen. Alex is an officer of the International Bar Association and he currently sits on the boards of The Montréal Alouettes Foundation and Pro Bono Québec (as past Chair).

Alex succeeds Melinda Park, who will continue her practice as a leading securities and capital markets lawyer in the areas of securities, corporate finance and commercial transactions.

BLG's National Managing Partner and CEO, Sean Weir, said, "On behalf of all members of the Firm, I wish to congratulate Alex. He will bring his usual enthusiasm to ensuring that we meet our strategic objectives while continuing to promote excellence, change and innovation throughout the Firm. I also wish to thank Melinda for her contributions to the continued success of the Firm."

"I am flattered by the partnership's confidence in me as Chair, and I look forward to continuing the good work that Melinda started. Specifically, my plans are to accelerate BLG's push into transforming the way legal services are delivered and priced. The legal industry is under increasing competitive pressure and BLG has the people, resources and agility to innovate and to win, so I am energized by my new role," said Alex.

With this new appointment, the BLG team of committed professionals and business services personnel will continue to reinforce its impressive market position by delivering exceptional client service and providing high-value legal advice.
