BLG's Linda Bertoldi Honoured By The Canadian Civil Liberties Association

The CCLA Celebrates Extraordinary Canadians at Annual Gala

Toronto (April 28, 2017) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) is pleased to announce that Linda Bertoldi has been honoured by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) for excellence in advocacy. The CCLA recognizes individuals who have contributed to the advancement of human rights, human dignity, fundamental freedoms and democracy in Canada. Linda was recognized for her advocacy and philanthropy on behalf of those with dementia. Her husband, Bill Bogart, was also honoured for his writings on access to justice.

Ms. Bertoldi is a senior counsel in BLG's Toronto office, Chair of the National Electricity Markets Group, and widely recognized as a leading lawyer in the electricity sector. She has advised developers, lenders and investors in power projects across Canada including wind, solar, hydro, biomass, natural gas, cogeneration and district energy projects. Ms. Bertoldi has extensive experience advising municipal electric utilities and their owners on governance, financing, and mergers and acquisitions. In addition to maintaining a busy and highly respected practice, Linda serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations. She is regarded as a strong and innovative collaborator, working with power generators, distribution companies and more to address complex issues, and has helped develop positions and recommendations on policy matters related to power generation.

The CCLA is Canada's national civil liberties organisation. Working with dedicated pro bono lawyers from across the country, the CCLA has intervened in courts at all levels, been vocal in the press and broadcast media, and advocated strategically and effectively to protect the rights and freedoms of all persons in Canada.

The CCLA's Annual Gala, which celebrates the achievements of extraordinary Canadians from all walks of life — film, sports, journalism, music, business, law, activism, literature, and more — was held last night in Toronto.
