Ira Parghi brings international privacy and cybersecurity experience to BLG.
Toronto (November 15, 2018) — Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) welcomes Ira Parghi to its Health Law and Privacy and Data Protection groups, as counsel. Ira is based in BLG’s Toronto office, and brings to the firm vast international experience advising on privacy and cybersecurity matters in the health care industry.
Ira returns to BLG following significant roles as the first-ever corporate privacy officer for the largest non-profit hospital system in the United States, and as counsel in a global law firm based in San Francisco, California. She has advised clients on all aspects and stages of information privacy and cybersecurity incidents — from incident prevention to breach analysis, risk containment, incident reporting, and regulatory investigations.

In addition to advising health care clients, Ira provides counsel to public and private entities across diverse industry sectors, including medical technology companies, pharmaceutical firms, universities, start-ups, and non-profits.
Ira completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University before obtaining her law degree from the University of Toronto in 1997 and her Master of Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2001, the New York Bar in 2013, and the California Bar in 2015.
