BLG’s Intellectual Property Group is currently recruiting a professional with 3 – 5 years of relevant experience to join its team in the Ottawa office.

Applicants who have strong client management and teamwork skills are sought to assume significant responsibility in an active and diverse Intellectual Property practice. The ideal candidate will be able to assist with trademark prosecution and IP transactional work. The candidate will focus on the clearance, filing and protection of trademarks domestically and internationally, opposition and cancellation proceedings, sending demand letters and negotiating settlements and conducting due diligence and providing strategic advice in commercial IP transactional matters. The candidate must be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, be a registered Trademark Agent in Canada and appreciate the importance of providing business-focused legal advice to clients.

The successful candidate will enjoy a great deal of autonomy to develop their skills and career as part of a successful team. With BLG’s national ongoing professional development/legal education program, the successful candidate will obtain advanced training, mentoring and exposure to the firm’s clients while being supported to build their own practice and expertise. This is an ideal position for someone who can hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision, is a consummate team player, has strong analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills, takes initiative, and seeks an opportunity to be allowed to further develop beyond their current level.
